The 99th Infantry Division was honored as a liberating unit by the U.S. Army's Center of Military History and the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in 1992.

While its original insignia is not officially recognized in the U.S. Army lineage, it is preserved by the 99th Readiness Division. This United States Army Reserve unit, established in 1967, functions as a geographic command and, as of 2023, is headquartered at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst in New Jersey.
