The McDonnell Douglas F/A-18 Hornet is a versatile, supersonic, twin-engine aircraft designed for both fighter and attack missions, indicated by its F/A designation. Developed in the 1970s from the YF-17, it serves the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps and has been adopted by several other countries. Known for its reliability and multi-role capability, the Hornet can perform air interdiction, close air support, aerial reconnaissance, and more. It debuted in combat during the 1986 bombing of Libya and saw action in the Gulf War and Iraq War.
