USS Saratoga CV-60 10oz Coffee Mug, Navy Aircraft Carrier

USS Saratoga (CV/CVA/CVB-60) was the second of the Forrestal-class supercarriers built for the U.S. Navy in the 1950s. Named after the Battles of Saratoga from the American Revolutionary War, it was the sixth Navy ship and the second carrier to bear this name. Commissioned in 1956, Saratoga primarily operated in the Mediterranean and served during the Vietnam War, earning one battle star. It also participated in Operation Desert Storm.

Decommissioned in 1994, Saratoga was stored at Naval Station Newport in Rhode Island. Efforts to convert it into a museum ship failed, leading to its sale to ESCO Marine for dismantling. The ship arrived in Brownsville, Texas, for scrapping on September 15, 2014, with the process completed by early 2019.
