VFA-101 "Grim Reapers" 10oz Coffee Mug, Navy, Strike Fighter Squadron flying the F-35C Lightining II

Strike Fighter Squadron 101 (VFA-101), nicknamed the "Grim Reapers," was a U.S. Navy Fleet Replacement Squadron (FRS) stationed at Eglin AFB, Florida. Initially, VF-101 served as the sole F-14 Tomcat FRS after the disbandment of the West Coast FRS VF-124 in the mid-1990s, operating out of NAS Oceana, Virginia. Following the F-14's retirement, VF-101 was deactivated in 2005. The squadron was reactivated in 2012 and redesignated as VFA-101, becoming one of two F-35C Lightning II FRS units. It was part of the 33d Fighter Wing (33 FW) and operated under the U.S. Navy's Strike Fighter Wing, U.S. Pacific Fleet. VFA-101 was deactivated again in 2019.
